APIP integrates Portuguese Pact for Plastics
We have come to inform you that APIP, as representative of the Plastics Industry, is one of the founding members of the Portuguese Pact for Plastics, an initiative coordinated by Smart Waste Portugal, within the scope of the Helen MacArthur Foundation's Pact network.

APIP, along with several entities, participated in the launching ceremony and signed the important Pact. In addition to the numerous entities represented, the Minister of the Environment and Climate Action, the Secretary of State for the Environment, the Secretary of State for Trade, Services and Consumer Protection, as well as the representatives of APA and DGAE, should also be noted.

This Pact, which brings together the Government, the different agents in the plastics value chain, the Academy and NGOs, aims to constitute itself as a collaborative platform, based on the common vision of promoting the increase in the circularity of plastics.

To materialize this vision, the Pact foresees the following ambitious goals and objectives to be achieved in 2025, namely:

Define, by 2020, a list of single-use plastics considered problematic or unnecessary and define measures for their elimination;
Ensure that 100% of plastic packaging is reusable, recyclable or compostable;
Ensure that 70% or more of plastic packaging is effectively recycled, by increasing collection and recycling;
Incorporate, on average, 30% recycled plastic in new plastic packaging;
Promote consumer awareness and education activities (current and future) for circular use of plastics.
Last, and not least, mention that APIP will play an important role in the organizational structure of the aforementioned Pact, since it will assume the coordination of the Consultative Committee, a body where the various sectoral / business associations inserted in the value chain will be represented. of plastics, which will allow it to be in close connection with the other organs that make up the Pact.
